CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional with undergraduate business degree from The University of Toledo, Master’s degree in business and finance from Arizona State University, and personal financial planning certificate from Kennesaw State University.  Started professional career as stockbroker with Merrill Lynch and spent 15 years as a Vice President of fixed income securities with both The First Boston Corporation and Lehman Brothers. Experienced individual income tax preparer with H&R Block.  Entrepreneurial and administrative credentials include founding principle and Chief Financial Officer of startup environmental contracting company. Formerly held: FINRA  Series 7 General Securities, and FINRA Series 66 Uniform State Law Licenses (Stocks, Bonds, Options,  Limited Partnerships, and Mutual Funds),  Investment Advisor Representative,  Life and Health Insurance License. 

Tom lives in Marietta, Georgia with his spouse of 40 years, Julie Smith, and they have three adult children and four grandchildren.

Laura Arden enthusiastically joined the FAPA team in 2016 as Director of Sales and Marketing.  She brings with her a background as an attorney and sales and marketing professional with a keen interest in aviation. Laura is responsible for building relationships with aviation partners for FAPA's Job Fairs, Future Pilot Forums and opportunities to advertise on FAPA.aero. FAPA’s Future Pilot Forums have become a passionate mission to Build the Pilot Pipeline and she works to reach future pilots of all ages to attend Future Pilot Forums around the country.
